Nick Baughan has 20 years of investment banking experience with a focus on raising capital and providing advisory services to emerging growth companies, primarily in the technology and business services sectors. Currently a Managing Member of Marks Baughan, Mr. Baughan has been engaged on over 70 transactions totaling over $12 billion.
Mr. Baughan leads Marks Baughan’s investment banking coverage of the Information Management sector and has been the senior advisor on 17 transactions since co-founding the firm in 2004. Within the Information Management sector, Mr. Baughan has worked extensively with market leading companies in the legal and compliance, document management and BPO sectors. Selected clients for whom Mr. Baughan has advised on M&A transactions or capital raising transactions include Alexander Gallo Holdings, Bowne & Co., CaseData, CaseSoft, DecisionQuest, Integreon Managed Solutions, Juris, nMatrix, Thomson Reuters and Verilaw.
Prior to co-founding Marks Baughan, Mr. Baughan was a senior member of the Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group where he ran the Technology Services banking effort based in Palo Alto and New York. In this capacity, Mr. Baughan was responsible for establishing and maintaining CEO, CFO and other senior level relationships with leading Technology Services companies, including Accenture, Affiliated Computer, BCE, CGI Group, Compaq, Computer Sciences Corp., Cognizant, Dell, Deloitte & Touche, Electronic Data Systems, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Perot Systems and Reynolds & Reynolds. Mr. Baughan also coordinated closely with leading West Coast and East Coast private equity sponsors in identifying and executing investment and monetization opportunities.
Prior to joining the CSFB Technology Group, Mr. Baughan worked for Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco where he focused on advisory services as well as principal investing with a focus on the IT Services sector. Earlier in his career, Mr. Baughan was a Vice President in Salomon Smith Barney's Technology investment banking division and was an Associate in Bear Stearns' Financial Sponsors Group, both based in New York.
Mr. Baughan received a BA from Columbia University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
